What are its ingredients?
The injectable dermal filler contains non-animal hyaluronic acid. It is made from bacterial fermentation and includes Lidocaine in the gel which is a anesthetic that can reduce the pain of cosmetic injections.
Why do doctors choose it?
JUVÉDERM® is one of the most trusted names in cosmetic injections, and it can provide smooth and long-lasting results. You can use it to correct medium to deep wrinkles and skin depressions, like nasolabial folds which run from the nose to the mouth or smile lines. It can also use it to add volume or to contour the lips for a desired look.
How does it reduce wrinkles?
This filler reduces the look of wrinkles and creases by restoring hyaluronic acid within the skin tissue. Aging can cause the skin to lose hyaluronic acid, and as the skin tissue loses its volume and moisture, wrinkles can form on the skin’s surface without the underlying support. By injecting this product into your patient’s wrinkled skin with a 27G needle, the filler will provide support and hydration to the skin to restore the skin’s volume and smooth texture. Hyaluronic acid can also stimulate the production of collagen, which restores strength and elasticity to the skin.
What are its side effects?
Like similar dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid, its side effects could include discoloration, redness, pain, tenderness, swelling, and itching at the injection site. Side effects from these injectable usually resolve spontaneously one or two days after you inject it into your patient’s skin and within a week after you inject it into your patient’s lips. Contraindications include use in patients that have a history of anaphylaxis or severe allergies, use in patients with a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid, and use right after dermabrasion, laser treatments, deep chemical peels, or superficial chemical peels that caused a severe inflammatory reaction. This filler is biodegradable, so it will gradually break down within the skin tissue and dissipate. Also, since it is made from hyaluronic acid that comes from bacterial fermentation, you do not need to administer an allergy test before the treatment.
When will it take effect?
As you inject it into your patient’s skin tissues, the results are almost immediately visible as the hyaluronic acid holds moisture and restores volume to the skin tissue. This restoration of subtle volume within the skin tissue helps to support the skin tissue for an immediately smoother look for facial wrinkles. The results usually last for up to about twelve months, and at that time your patient can choose to repeat their treatment.
